Packing Like a Pro (Without Losing Your Mind or Your Tape Dispenser)
Packing Like a Pro (Without Losing Your Mind or Your Tape Dispenser)
Packing up your whole life into cardboard boxes? Yeah… not exactly a fun weekend activity.
Whether you’re gearing up for a local move across town or heading out of state, packing can feel like pure chaos if you don’t have a solid plan.
But lucky for you—I do have a plan. And you don’t need a label maker or color-coded spreadsheet to pull it off. You just need a few smart strategies and a little bit of “I’ve got this” energy.
Let’s get you packed up, stress-free-ish and ready for that next chapter.
Start With the Stuff You Don’t Use Daily
Holiday decorations, off-season clothes, random kitchen gadgets—you’re not gonna miss that bundt pan this week, I promise. Packing up the “non-essentials” first helps you feel productive and keeps the chaos from creeping into your everyday life.
Label Smarter, Not Harder
Don’t just write “kitchen” on the box and hope future-you remembers what’s in it. Be specific. “Kitchen – baking tools” or “Bedroom – nightstand junk I swear I need.” Also, labeling on the side of the box is a game-changer. You’ll thank yourself later when everything’s stacked.
Wrap Like You’re Shipping Fine China (Even If It’s Dollar Store Glasses)
Use towels, socks, and even t-shirts to wrap up your breakables. It saves space, cuts down on packing materials, and gives your glassware a cozy little buffer. Bubble wrap is great, but your beach towels work double duty here.
Create a “Day One” Survival Box
Pack a box (or laundry basket) with all the things you’ll want right away in the new place: phone chargers, toothbrushes, TP, paper towels, pajamas, meds, and maybe your coffee maker. Trust me—you don’t want to dig through 14 boxes just to find deodorant.
Purge As You Go
Packing is the perfect excuse to get rid of stuff. If it’s broken, donate it. If it’s weirdly sentimental but makes no sense to keep, take a picture and let it go. Moving is easier when you’re not hauling clutter from one place to another.
In Conclusion...
Packing doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With a little strategy and a lot of sharpies, you can keep your move organized—and even a little less painful. You’re not just boxing up things… you’re prepping for a whole new adventure.
And if that next adventure involves buying or selling in West Georgia—I’d be honored to help carry a little of the load. 💛
