Mableton, GA is a charming unincorporated community just 14 miles northwest of Atlanta, surrounded by great neighbors like Austell, Smyrna, Lithia Springs, and Powder Springs, among others. This area has deep roots, founded back in 1843 by Robert Mable, a Scottish immigrant and farmer. Back then, Mableton was all about farming—cotton, potatoes, and corn were the big crops. It was originally called Mill Grove, then Nikajack, before officially becoming Mableton in August 1912. However, Mableton’s time as an incorporated city was short-lived. After a massive flood caused a tax crisis, the city was unincorporated just four years later in August 1916. Despite that, Mableton has held onto its small-town charm while growing into a lively community.
