Aragon

Back in 1929, folks called Aragon an “Industrial Utopia”—and for good reason. The Aragon Mill, owned by A.D. Julliard & Company, was one of the biggest around and brought jobs, community, and even recreation to this little corner of Polk County. It all started way back in 1898 when the mill was built and chartered, becoming a major player in Georgia’s textile scene.

Even before all that, Aragon had its brush with history—in 1864, some of Sherman’s troops camped out by the spring here while trying to outmaneuver Johnson’s army. That move led straight to the battle at New Hope Church
